Title:
Torsion of the spermatic cord in a Warmblood stallion
Abstract:
In this case report, a 720 degree torsion of the spermatic cord in a 2.5-year-old Warmblood stallion is described.Diagnosis was made through palpation and ultrasonography, and since future breeding potentialwas not important, a bilateral orchidectomy was performed. The main pathology of testicular torsion isischemia and reperfusion injury of the testis. Several antioxidant agents such as allopurinol and melatonincould be effective in preventing testicular ischemia and reperfusion injury.
